Best gaming PC for Apex Legends

Apex Legends is a fast team battle game where squads fight to be the last ones standing. It is quick, busy and rewards smooth play, so a PC with a good graphics card makes all the difference.

What Apex Legends needs

  • Graphics card: the part that draws the picture, and the most important part here. Apex is medium to demanding. A mid-range graphics card plays it well at 1080p.
  • Processor: a decent modern processor keeps the game steady when lots is happening at once. Our AMD or Intel guide explains the choice.
  • Memory (RAM): 16GB is sensible.
  • Storage: an SSD (a fast storage drive) so the game loads quickly. Apex is a large game and has regular updates, so leave yourself some room.

Going further: high frame rates, 1440p and streaming

In a fast shooter, smoothness matters as much as looks. A higher frame rate means the picture updates more often, so movement is clearer and aiming feels more natural. To get that on a high refresh rate screen you need a stronger graphics card. Our guide to frame rate and refresh rate explains how the PC and screen work together.

A 1440p screen is sharper, which helps you spot players far away, but it asks more of the PC. Streaming your games online adds more work again.

Which screen?

A 1080p screen with a high refresh rate is a popular choice for Apex. 1440p looks sharper if your PC can keep up. Read 1080p, 1440p or 4K and what size monitor is best for gaming. If you also play other shooters, see the best PC for Warzone.

Questions people ask

Can I play Apex Legends without a graphics card?

Only at very low settings, and it will not be smooth in big fights. Apex is fast and busy, so a separate graphics card makes a real difference.

Is Apex Legends more demanding than Fortnite?

Generally a little, yes, especially at higher settings. It sits in the middle: lighter than Warzone, harder than Valorant or Rocket League.

Do I need a high refresh rate screen for Apex?

You do not need one, but many players like it. A high refresh rate screen updates more times each second, which makes fast fights feel smoother. The PC needs a stronger graphics card to make the most of it.

Is 16GB of memory enough for Apex Legends?

Yes. 16GB is a sensible amount for Apex. Consider 32GB if you also stream.
